I’m a Derby-based playwright, reviewer, and dramaturg.
I’m currently working on PULL, a monologue about a teenage girl with trichotillomania.
In late 2016, I was commissioned by Poetical Machines to write ADA, a full length play about Ada Lovelace, funded by the Arts Council and supported by Nottingham Playhouse. The project was in research and development throughout 2017, and will be touring in Spring 2019.
I’ve previously worked with companies and collectives including Encompass Productions (STASIS, 2015), In Good Company (STORY SCAVENGERS, 2014), The Pensive Federation (THE GUEST ROOM, 2014), Act 2 (STASIS, 2014), and New Model Theatre (APRIL, 2012-2013). I was a writer on attachment with New Perspectives Theatre Company in 2014. In 2015, I was commissioned by BAFTA winning director Peter Nicholson to write my first feature film, NOVEMBER.
My plays are character-driven and centre the stories of women and girls. I’m interested in how technology affects human relationships, and I always write with actors in mind. As a fan of aspirational science-fiction, I love finding ways to put sci-fi onstage. My plays often feature robots.
Likes include running and Captain Kathryn Janeway of the starship Voyager. Dislikes include mansplaining and books that have a map at the beginning.
