‘You may turn the handle, and I will whirr and calculate without error!

A new play about the life and work of Ada Lovelace, the unsung pioneer of the computing age. ADA re-imagines her carefully controlled childhood, collaboration with Charles Babbage, and fraught relationship with her family legacy, and intertwines Ada’s history with a contemporary story about the potential and possibilities of artificial intelligence.

Commissioned by Poetical Machines and initially developed with the support of Arts Council England and Nottingham Playhouse.

ADA will tour in Spring 2019, directed by Julia Locascio, with music by Haiku Salut.
